On this page I will include many important facts about MD diseases and MDA services. I am very fortunate that the neuromuscular disease that I have has become easier to cope with thanks to a drug called Mestinon. I have a form of Myasthenia Gravis which is a fatiguing disease. Please do not take me wrong...it is a very serious disease, but in my situation the symptoms have lessened due to Mestinon and learning how to cope with my fatigue when it increases. Summers are the hardest for me in that extreme heat fatigues my muscles more than normal. I have learned to find refuge in the air conditioning when this occurs and to attempt to get more rest! The major problem that I have is the drooping of my eyelids causing some vision problems. As a child I have had to deal with being made fun of because other children did not understand why my eyelids drooped. They knew I had a disease, so they would not want to be near me thinking that they might get the disease from me. It is my hope that people will come to understand what it is like having to deal with the droopiness of eyelids and the vision problems caused by this. If you have any questions concerning MG please contact me. There is an article in the QUEST magazine about vision problems with neuromuscular disease. Check out the link below.
